bootleg sessions V.1 Tom LaMarche

this is pretty much how the movement got to where it is today, lamarche kills it, whether it be bmx or fixed.

26' fixed.

with all the recent changes happening to the relatively new sport that is fixed gear freestyle (fgfs), many have begun to question where the sport is headed, what with pegs, smaller wheels, fatter tires, etc. but after building up a set of mtx33's, without a doubt, 26' is the way to go, the feel to it is just incredible. many might say that by running smaller wheels, it loses the true feel to having a bike that youre able to commute on and trick on at the same time, but what sets the sport apart from its counterparts is the fixed drivetrain. with that being said, the only way it can lose its meaning is by slapping a freewheel on, but if youre having fun thats all that matters in the long run.

another trick track thursday post

Gnarhesh from TT put this up a while ago, thought it was pretty goofy.

Skate video of the week

In Almost: Round three, Almost skateboards showcased the skate scene's top riders of the time from Haslam, Sheckler, Lutzka, Mullen, Wilt, and Song. each skater's part was perfectly executed from the highly budgeted music soundtrack, to the excellent filming. this movie, needless to say, kicked serious ass and still remains as one of my favorite skate movies of all time.

trick track thursdays

spotted on the "action shot" forum on trick track. gnarly double wall ride, who cares if the lighting is a little meh, this shot rules!

Eighthinch freestyle parts

Eighthinch is a strictly fixed gear side company of wheel and sprocket run in Wisconsin. they've only been around for a year and a half but they've really gotten themselves off the ground lately and they recently discovered a change i'm demographic over the year. freestyle fixed has really gotten off the ground recently and companies are buying into the sport. especially Eighthinch, Kris from lockedcog posted this photo of the new BMX cranks, bars, and frame prototypes that they are soon to release.

@MessengerMedia Bike couriers chase down bicycle thief in wild downtown pursuit http://bit.ly/cA2q1o

check this story real quick, pretty badass i'd say. i just think to myself how awesome it would feel to chase after some bike thief and throw his ass to the ground on a high speed chase. hope these guys got a hefty reward out of this.

Gabby Gulczynski's charge scissor

Gabby Gulczynski got picked up by charge after her run at Midwest Mayhem not too long ago, and they hooked her up with a full setup (cranks aside) and damn does it look good.
its quite a change for gabby in bar, frame, and tire size and i'm stoked to see how she handles it.
ill post some better photos eventually, but this just got put together tonight.

Bad Brains- Black dots

Bad Brains is a Hardcore Punk band from Washington D.C., and to this day, what some might say "the first" punk band to emerge on the music scene. and while they maintain a heavy punk sound, on certain tracks they show their reggae side as well. Black dots is a compilation of basement recordings from bad brains early work in 79'. Black dots definetly stands out there because of the poor recording quality, which really adds to the true punk feel to it, and how small the movement was in its early days. the album is plain. simple. thrash. and its hard not to love it if you're a fan of the genre.

Van Homan Stay Fit

holy shit there are some serious bangers in this part, and this music really adds to the experience as well. ill cut the small talk, this video rules. nuff said.

Wonka's Selle San Marco Saddle

Well its official, Ed Laforte (Wonka) now has a signature Selle San Marco Seat on sale and shipping fast. as seen, its covered in black suede with his signature in lime green and a GOrilla logo imprinted on it as well. i might be picking one of these up soon to replace my racing seat with cracked rails, if i can manage to get my hands on one, either way you can find yours here. at: www.sellesanmarco.it

muffed up mondays

i can only imagine what happens beyond the still, this shot makes my blood curl, either way, awesome shot.

MKE bike polo poker pub crawl

Its been a hell of a nasty day in Milwaukee weather wise, but that didnt keep the MKE local riders from having a good time at the Milwaukee bike polo club's "Poker Pub Crawl". taken by @antonyoxxx on tweeter.

cody mcentire - smoke and mirrors

Cody Mcentire has always been a progressive am skater, but he's never fully gotten his name out there regardless of his sponsors. in Digital skateboarding's: Smoke and Mirrors you really see his abilities above all others and how hard he works to get the shot

sample sunday

Kareem Shehab's "Death Pedal 2" has been circulating over the interwebs for months now, and stoked is an understatement for FGFS fans. as many also know, theres going to be a screening at the RVA River City Trick Jam and the entire cast is going to be there, many say it's going to be just as big as Midwest Mayhem. wish i could make it out, and for those of you who cant as well, heres a sample of DP2

fixed gear...beer?

Now i'm no alcoholic but i would never claim edge, so i drink a beer here and there every few months and can appreciate the time and effort that it takes to create a new product and take the risk of putting it into production. Down at lakefront brewery, a milwaukee based brewery that began in 1987, with over 21 different brews, has now released their signature "fixed gear beer". This release isn't a shame to the bike culture, for some strange reason they love it. but for a brewery with so much history, i'd expect something less...trendy? milwaukee, as a very beer and cheese based city holds to Lakefront brewery as a landmark of the city's culture, and this almost puts the brewery to shame. i cant tell if its just a good marketing strategy or just a bad idea overall, either way it'll give the hipsters something else to drown themselves in
besides PBR.

Nile: Annihilation of the Wicked

Nile is a metal band from South carolina, who's lyrics are inspired by ancient Egyptian art, religion, history, and stories. Karl Sanders, Dallas toler-wade, George Kollias, and Chris Lollis, have created a chaotic, ripping sound that many cannot reproduce while infusing it with egyptian mythology that gives it an almost eerie feel to it. there arent many things that can be said about Nile other than awesome, and Annihilation of the Wicked certainly displays their
craft well.

one of Red Bulls new ads, how could i not post this?

Mishka's Dart 2010 spring line

Mishka's DART clothing line or better known as, "Death Adders Road and Track" began in 2008 with an idea to revolutionize and support the track bike/fixed gear culture in new york. Now mishka's created a series of tees and hoodies inspired by fixed gear freestyle (FGFS) and a bit of Americana. im pretty stoked about the new line from a personal standpoint, its easy to shrug the fixed gear movement off as a hipster fad, but its begun to grow much like the ways skateboarding and BMX had in the early days. As it still continues to grow, this line promotes a whole new look into the culture.

andrew reynolds- the end.

Birdhouse's "the End" is to this day the most highly budgeted skate video of all time, topping at about one million in production costs, and they did a damn good job. skateboarding will never be as awesome as it was in the 90's but heres a flashback to remind us of the times.

bike porn fridays

beautiful bikes and beautiful photography go hand in hand, and this Gan well pro is a fine example, spotted this beauty on velospace last night and figured it was worthy of my first post.
